Barbera d’Asti DOCG – Vigna delle Pietre
Monferrato has no stones. It is almost impossible, even looking very carefully, to find something that vaguely resembles the stones. My grandfather however was convinced that the vineyard was full of stones, so that we started to call it “vineyard of the stones” (Vigna delle Pietre). Actually, those stones were fossils from the era in which the Po Valley, the Monferrato and Langhe were covered by the sea. This wine presents a typical ruby red color, particularly dark and a vinous and fruity smell. Full-bodied, with good structure and strength, has soft and fruity taste. It is definitely a dinner wine, suitable for matching with all savory.
